This procedure is an important consideration when having your tooth removed. Tooth removal can cause defects and greatly reduce the success or ability to replace your tooth in the future. Having a tooth removed without socket regeneration will result in additional procedures and multiple increased costs for future implant placement.

When a tooth needs to be removed, it is often damaged because of disease, infection, or in some cases both. The supporting bone surrounding teeth shrinks significantly within 3 months of removal. This can create difficulty for future implant placement and also decrease the supporting bone for the adjacent teeth. However, Socket Regeneration keeps the bone level on the adjacent teeth and keeps room for implant placement in the future.

Socket regeneration helps preserve bone and limit bone loss after tooth removal. Typically, the socket is filled with graft material to reduce the chance of shrinkage and collapse of the gum tissue in the area in which the tooth was removed.
